Two other Altolamprologus also exist -
-Altolamprologus sp Sumbu.
This fish was originally classified as Altolamprologus compressiceps Sumbu, but has recently been moved.
This is a dwarf shell-dwelling Altolamprologus that reaches about
8 centimetres. In the wild, Sumbu breed in shells.
The difference between the shell-dwelling form and the regular Altolamprologus compressiceps is that male shell-dwellers are small enough to fit inside empty Neothauma snail shells.
Sumbu look like miniature Altolamprologus calvus with their pearly body spots. Ad Konings believes that they could be a dwarf form of the nearby rock-dwelling pearly Altolamprologus compressiceps variants - not a small calvus, as the range doesn't cross.
-Altolamprologus sp Shell (Mbita Pearl).
This fish is also a dwarf and occurs at Mbita Island, Zambia.
Altolamprologus sp Shell has thicker, fleshier lips; both sexes show bars on the body and the unpaired fins are yellow.
The dwarf forms of Altolamprologus appear to be more outgoing than their larger cousins.
They also need less space - a 60 centimetre (2 foot) tank is fine for a small colony of dwarf Altos.
Pogrubienie moje.
